Hello! My name is Rakisha Douthitt (formerly Rakisha Pollard) and I have been teaching Middle School English Language Arts at JCS since September 29, 2016. Prior to beginning my teaching career, I was an attorney for Appalachian Regional Healthcare in Hazard, KY. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English from Berea College and my Juris Doctor (law degree) from the University of Kentucky. I am currently pursuing my Master of Ats in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands.

I have always known I wanted to teach, and every day that I have the honor of teaching (and learning with!) the brilliant middle schoolers at JCS, I know more and more that this is exactly what I was meant to do. It is my mission to share my love of literature and my passion for writing with every student.
